Chiambretti, how did your relationship with Milano
Marittima begin?
It’s a long-term relationship that happened by chance when I organized the VIP Masters Tennis Tournament, of which I was promoter for five years along with Mario Baldassarri. Those were the golden
years of Milano Marittima. Together we saw its nightlife develop, as well as the growth of the beach bars and restaurants. Milano Marittima today shares the same philosophy as other places considered
trendy, like Forte dei Marmi, with bars full of football players, women, and therefore Paparazzi.
Have you always continued to visit?
These years I’ve returned often enough to have nearly obtained a permanent citizenship. During the years I was involved with the tournament, I met many people, both known and unknown. I saw them grow and often grow old, myself included. I remember Sacchi and Zaccheroni as being part of that. I met other sports people like Nicola Pietrangeli, and the more famous football players. Many people that
normally you meet for just a few minutes during the course of winter, but during summer you’re able to get to know them better.
What do you think of TV today?
I don’t think much about it, as I’m involved myself. But it seems like it’s going down hill like the rest of the world. As far as I’m concerned, I use it to watch films and football matches.
New plans for the future?
The “Chiambretti night” is more than enough. I don’t see any changes until 2010. I’m sure to renew the contract with Mediaset. After that, I’ll see if I continue programs that are modeled on current
affairs, otherwise I’ll take a break for a year. In this case, I could take advantage of the time and offer my services to become mayor of Milano Marittima.
