the christmas table
the christmas table
The decorations, the traditional meal, the presents. The family Christmas remains an institution also if these days there are many, instead, who decide to go to a restaurant. If you choose the homemade Christmas, the design of the table is crucial, from the colour choice to the table centerpiece, or maybe you want to create a more modern design.
However, it’s the house itself that decides the choices of how to arrange the table. From the walls and curtains to the furniture of the room, this will all add to the occasion. Also because every table contains within itself a silent story that becomes more loving with the intimate objects that furnish it. We lay across the table a white tablecloth enriched with simplicity and honey coloured crockery. Then we polish that modest set of silver plated brass from grandma, that when cleaned seems like gold. At the center of the table we put lightly coloured cherubs, a Christmas angel, or simply some rosemary, sage, and white roses. From the Dutch painters we know that the table, even if designed simply or in the more classic style, needs to be sweetly illuminated by candles.
In restaurants we have the return of simplicity with the decoration of the table and its food. The tendency is towards intelligent minimalism, where you find a place for traditional products that think of the client by anticipating their tastes.
