The great Giacobazzi

This comedian from Romagna is enjoying a period of great success. His most hilarious sketches include the stories about the people and locales of Milano Marittima.
He is the comedian of the moment, one of those best loved by Zelig. Giuseppe Giacobazzi, class of 1963, originally from Alfonsine in the province of Ravenna, granted us this interview before one of his shows at Cesenatico and we did nothing but laugh and joke with him the whole time.

Why did you choose this way to make a living?
It is really inborn ignorance which comes naturally! I probably had a flare for it from a young age and since then I have been refining my gift for humour.
In your shows how much is improvised and how much prepared beforehand?
Well, in the old shows much was left to chance whereas in the new shows... I do just the same! (laugh). Let''''''''''''''''s say I have a kind of scheme of course but it develops, evolves and changes.
How has Italian comedy changed over the years?
If you watch the film "Mostri" by Dino Risi of 1953 today, for example, it is incredibly pertinent to the present. And yet, in those days, they didn''''''''''''''''t have the means we have today, but they had ideas, they had producers with courage to do things.
If you do TV today, you are limited by the audience, the programmes that have to follow a certain format and you get very short spots
Do you like Milano Marittima, do you go there?
Well, how could anyone say that Milano Marittima is not nice? In the evening you watch people go by and see women which you could never see in other places.
